In this study, a plant-mediated approach was developed for the in-situ fabrication of a reduced graphene oxide/silver (rGO/Ag) nanocomposite on cotton fabric using Pulicaria gnaphalodes extract as a plant-derived reducing agent. The morphological, structural, and chemical characteristics of the treated fabrics were investigated using TEM, FE-SEM, EDS, XRD, and XPS. The electrical, antimicrobial, and UV-blocking properties were also evaluated. XPS analysis confirmed the reduction of GO, with the C/O atomic ratio increasing from 5.3:1 to 31:1. The use of Pulicaria gnaphalodes extract resulted in a more homogeneous nanocomposite coating and less nanoparticle agglomeration compared with ascorbic acid. Among the investigated GO concentrations, 0.5 wt.% GO showed the highest electrical and antimicrobial performance. The best-performing sample exhibited a surface electrical resistivity of 1.6 × 10³ Ω/square. Moreover, rGO/Ag-treated fabrics achieved 100% reduction of Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans. These results demonstrate the potential of Pulicaria gnaphalodes extract as a plant-derived reducing agent for the in-situ fabrication of rGO/Ag-coated cotton fabrics with improved antimicrobial and electrical properties.
