This research focuses on the technical study of carpet weaving and dyeing in Malayer township, with an emphasis on the central and Zand regions and Nahavand township. The decline in the interest in carpet weaving in these regions compared to the past, along with the developments in the carpet sales market, has led to the forgetting of data related to the indigenous carpet weaving heritage of this region. This event has resulted in the forgetting and decline of the knowledge of the region's weavings. By identifying the carpet weaving knowledge, the authenticity of the region's indigenous carpet knowledge is preserved against machine-made carpet imitations and the cultural status of this carpet weaving tradition and knowledge is introduced. This study is exploratory and was conducted with the aim of documenting, classifying and matching the technical characteristics of Hamedan carpets with emphasis on the two counties of Malayer in the central part and Zand and Nahavand county. This article is of fundamental type and the method of descriptive-analytical research and the method of field data collection were used and the research background was a library study. The sampling was purposeful and based on the opinions of experts and carpet producers in this region, 32 carpets were selected. The results show that carpet weaving in these two regions is similar in terms of weaving tools, raw material, production management mechanism and weavers. In Malayer, due to double-weaving, the carpets are more resistant than Nahavand carpets in terms of resistance, while the color range used in Malayer handlooms is more diverse. In terms of the location of carpet weaving, Malayer handlooms are urban and rural, and Nahavand handlooms are rural, and the variety of motifs in Nahavand handlooms is greater than in Malayer.
