Abstract

In order to investigate the effect of key parameters, such as concentration, electric voltage, distance and flow rate on electric current and fibers diameters in the process of Electrospinning, and also finding a relation between current and the parameters mentioned above, we have used nylon 6 solutions in the range of 10–25wt%. With the purpose of producing the least diameter in fiber, the experiments were conducted in two main sections. The first section is about investigating the effects of parameters to achieve trend behavior while the second part is belonging to optimizing the process. In all experiments, micro ammeter and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to examine the current in a 12 minute time segment and morphology along with fibers diameters respectively. The experiments showed that the electric current has a direct relation with concentration and electric voltage. However, it has an indirect relation with distance between a collector and needle tip. Flow rate did not illustrate any specific trend during the experiments. It has been observed that, electric current in a 12 minute time segment was unstable all through the experiments, while when tested with the optimized sample, the electric current was steady and stable.
